Green Eyes Sung by Jimmy Dorsey {Lyrics} Quatre whisked his best friend and dance partner around the floor. Her gown swished with their graceful movements as they danced, and her hair brushed agaist the back of his hand. The ball was elegant, but that was the way of these things. He was just very glad his friend had manipulated him into asking her to join him. A smirk spread across Quatre's face at the memory, and he pulled her a little closer in the process, causing her to blush prettily. "You move gracefully now, Marelle. Are all those dancing lessons finally paying off?" She leveled a glare up at him, and he chuckled softly. But the hairs on the back of his neck rose, as if he was being watched. Marelle noticed his immediate tenseness. "Quatre, what's wrong?" Her voice was a whisper, her uneasiness filtering through anyhow. He shook his head. "I don't know. I get the feeling I'm being watched." He noticed her eyes start dancing around the room, and was slightly grateful when the slow music changed to a lively waltz. "Ready to waltz, Miss Marelle?" She laughed and nodded. They danced around the ballroom, waltzing, both pairs of eyes searching for the one who was watching Quatre. Marelle's hand tightening in his drew his attention to where she was looking. In the doorway to one of the balconies stood a lithe young man. His light brown hair fell gracefully and lazily over half his face, but his green eyes still penetrated. Quatre felt giddy and anxious at the same time. Then the young man was gone. {Well, Green Eyes with their soft lights, Your eyes that promise sweet nights, Bring to my soul a longing, a thirst for love divine. In dreams I seem to hold you, to find you and enfold you, Our lips meet and our hearts, too, with a thrill so sublime.} Quatre woke slowly to the sounds of moans. It took him a minute to realize the moans were his own. Hoping he hadn't wakened anyone, he stopped. The dream he had been having was one that had plagued his sleep since the ball. Piercing green eyes. Not to mention the types of "activities" he and the owner of those green eyes indulged in. Quatre was used to dreaming such dreams, having dreamt Marelle in some pretty interesting positions, but he simply wasn't used to dreaming that about another guy. It put him on edge, yet made him curious. He slipped his jogging shorts on and slipped out of the house, making sure not to wake his best friend and roommate. As the door clicked shut, he was off and running. Jogging helped him clear his head and think. But his mind seemed to be one tracked. Green eyes had taken over his brain till all he saw were those eyes as he ran. He thanked all the gods and goddesses Marelle claimed there were that he knew his route in his sleep and that there wasn't anyone around. Till he tripped. He looked up into the same green eyes that were haunting him as the young man offered him a hand. {Those cool and limpid Green Eyes - A pool wherein my love lies. So deep that in my searching for happiness I fear that they will ever haunt me, All through my life they'll taunt me. But will they ever want me? Green Eyes, make my dreams come true.} Marelle stood on the edge of the balcony, her many skirts shifting in the steady breeze. She had been the one to spot Quatre's green-eyed watcher those few balls ago. And now, she watched her best friend dance with the tall young man who had suddenly become a part of his life. And hers. She felt eyes boring into her back, but refused to turn around. She couldn't help what she felt, and it infuriated her. She had gone into her own thoughts so much that she jumped when a gentle hand rested on her bare shoulder. She whipped her head around and came face to face with green eyes. {Well, Green Eyes with the soft lights, And eyes that promise sweet nights, Bring to my soul a longing, a thirst for love divine. In dreams I seem to hold you, to find you and enfold you, Our lips meet and our hearts, too, with a thrill so sublime.} Marelle heard her best friend and roomie get up to go jogging. She waited till the door had quietly clicked shut before sitting up and resting her head on her elevated knees. "Why are you in my head? Why did you have to join Quatre in my dreams?" She asked no one in particular. She jumped when he stepped out of the shadows by the door. "I think you already know the answer to that one." He approached her bed gracefully, his movements remininding her of a cat on the prowl. She leaned backwards as he began to crawl onto the bed, only to find herself laying down with him hovering over her. The spell he was weaving didn't even waver when the door opened, announcing Quatre's arrival home. Marelle opened her mouth to say something, anything, but immediately shut it when he shook his head. In moments, Quatre was standing in the doorway to her room, his eyes wide. She tried to open her mouth to say something, but the graceful creature above her placed a slender finger over her lips, effectively silencing her. But jealousy and rage were not what she saw in her best friend's eyes. That one simple act sparked lust in those aqua eyes. All Marelle could do was watch as her long-time best friend stripped out of his jogging clothes before joining them on her bed. Her eyes widened at his whispered words, though. "I've been attracted to you for quite some time now. You're in my dreams, Marelle, you fill them with your erotic beauty." He simply nodded at her incredulous 'Who, me? Erotic?' look. "Yes, you. For a little over a year now, actually. For you," Quatre carressed her cheek with his gentle fingers, "are truely beautiful." The hovering beauty with the green eyes nodded. "Aye. Beauty within and beauty without." Quatre nodded. "That sums it up nicely." Then Quatre decended to share their first real kiss. {Those cool and limpid Green Eyes - A pool wherein my love lies. So deep that in my searching for happiness I fear that they will ever haunt me, All through my life they'll taunt me. But will they ever want me? Green Eyes, I love you.} Marelle was looking out over the horizon, watching the sun set into the water, enjoying the gentle breeze that was rolling in from across the water. He had half an urge to romance her right then, but he waited for his other love, who joined him in watching the girl for a brief moment. Together they journied out to the balcony, gently making their presence known. She didn't move, but he knew she was aware of them. A sudden gust blew her waist long hair back, as well as her sarong, revealing shapely tanned legs. He stepped up behind her and placed an arm around her waist. She leaned back into his embrace, as Quatre curled into his other arm. He glanced down at her and noticed her eyes were closed and her lips were moving, speaking without sound. When she was done he whispered to her. "What was that?" She didn't take her eyes from the horizon as she spoke, her whole body relaxing against his. "A prayer to any and all the gods and goddesses that we'll be forever happy." He smiled and placed a tiny kiss on the top of her head. His smile widened at her next words. "I love you, Trowa and Quatre." Back to Fan Fiction Home | |||||
