Nowhere And Everywhere
Song by Michelle Lewis
Lyrics are in italics
lyrics altered slightly for storyline purposes

She's been traveling the sidewalks for hours
Stopping as every moment of the truth wanders past
Window shopping for religion or something harder
Than the coins in her pocket

Fallyn had been walking the colony for ages today, pausing now and again when she thought she caught sight of a braid out of the corner of her eye. She could swear she saw his reflection in the shop windows as she glanced into them as well. And though she would window shop, she never went into the stores. With every step, her pockets jingled with the coin she had pilfered today and she knew going into one of the stores would leave her an open mark.

She was wearing her usual outfit, but in uncharacteristic colors. Her tank top was white and form-fitting, her cargos were grey, and her overshirt was black. Her amethyst eyes scanned the crowds, looking for him, but meeting the hungry looks and hungry grins of the myriad of men around her.

She is way too pretty for prime-time L2
She gets the business every time she takes a walk
Amid the sharks smiles, porno scenes
But they can never touch this disappearing queen

He watched her from the shadows, not quite knowing who she was but sensing she was there for him.

"Who are you and what do you want with me, Beautiful Angel?" he breathed to himself. He watched with growing jealousy as a small group of men approached her, their intent evident on their faces.

And with awe he watched her disappear into the sky as the group attacked. He looked out and saw her dangling from a sky-wire, looking for all the world like she was going to fall. He gasped as she let go of the wire and flipped in mid-air to grab ahold of a windowsill. She was safe, for now.

She is

Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
At the same time

Fallyn pulled herself into the building, hearing the gang beating down the doors downstairs. She felt the door give in to the abuse and she bolted to the roof.

"Shit." she said under her breath. She had reached the roof and instantly encountered a 20 foot drop to the alleyway below. Behind her, she heard the gang pounding up the stairs to the roof, stopping just long enough on each floor to verify that she wasn't there. Two seconds later, they were on the roof.

She was nowhere to be found.

She's as shady as cheap sunglasses
But as perfect as this October Monday passes
To go dragging her soul around town
Always in such a hurry, but never too fast

He saw her disappear from the rooftop, not seeing where she disappeared to. He released his breath as the gang looked around the rooftop, puzzled looks evident on their faces. She was safe, for now.

He shifted out of the shadows, nearly colliding with a young woman in sunglasses. She looked up at him from over the frames and gasped.

Amethyst met amethyst. She backpedaled, not fully grasping who the eyes belonged to, turned and fled as he reached out to her.

"Damn!" he swore under his breath, causing some passersby to glance at him from the corners of their eyes. He started after her, keeping to the shadows this time.

Playing chicken with delivery boys
And tag with the subway
Searching alleys for proper company
She's jumping in and out of cracks
And she's got everything that you lack
Though she entered unnoticed
You will feel it when she leaves

Fallyn raced headlong down the sidewalk, dodging people and animals alike. His eyes haunted her. Hungry, protective, and empty, all at the same time. She turned down an alleyway, her eyes searching as they grew accustom to the gloom, running at breakneck speeds.

People looked behind them as she passed them, turning back only to see a young braided man in persuit. But Fallyn didn't know this, all she knew was escape.

She is

Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
At the same time

He had seen her turn down the alleyway and instantly felt fear for her. L2 colony was a bad place for those who didn't know it's secrets. And he was certain she did not.

He turned down the alleyway just in time to see her at the other end, flagging down a Taxi. He sped up, trying to catch her before she got in and disappeared forever, but he was too late. By the time he got there, she was gone.

We belong in gutters and glittering lobbies
We belong to the streetlamp flickering out
We belong to absolutely nothing

Fallyn wandered the streets after climbing through the Taxi to throw him off her trail, knowing all the while that he was indeed why she was here. Night had fallen and the darker side of the town took over. So, Fallyn wandered.

~~~~
He saw her as she passed under a flickering street light, wandering as if she was lost.
'I know how you feel.' he thought to himself bitterly. 'We're all lost around here.'
Getting out of a taxi the other day
My heart fell out of my back pack and into a puddle
And so my chest was empty but it felt okay
I just fished out the pieces and walked away
Into
She stepped out of the shadows, watching him as he walked the other side of the street. Her insides felt as empty as his eyes had looked, but she didn't mind. She decided that it was the best way to get around this nearly all-male colony. Look empty, and you won't be bothered.
She followed him, knowing he sensed her presence as he ducked down an alleyway. Hiding in the shadows, she followed.
She found him contemplating a dead-end just moments later.
"Duo, it's time to go home." He whirled around at the sound of her voice. Catching sight of her and noting it was just her, he nodded.
"I know. I just-" he paused.
"You just what? Thought L2 had changed? No. No, Duo, it hasn't, and it's making you empty, eating you alive. You know your name, but do you know me?"
He laughed. "Know you? Yes. You are my Beautiful Angel. My Escape Artist. I know you." She shook her head and he looked at her sharply.
"I'm no 'Beautiful Angel', Duo. A 'Beautiful Angel' could not live loving Shinigami." Duo's shoulders dropped. "But-" Fallyn continued as she closed the distance between them, wrapping her arms around his waist and laying her head on his chest, "A fallen Angel could."
Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
At the same time
Duo stood there, her last words ringing in his ears. 'A fallen Angel could. A fallen Angel. Fallen.' "Fallyn." He said aloud. She looked up at him as he said her name, his face clouded with pain as the memories re-surfaced. "Oh, Fallyn. What have I done?" He sobbed.
"Helped me remember my will to live, Duo. That's what you've done." She held onto him as he cried, soothing him with her gentle tone, loving him with her warmth.
We are nowhere and everywhere
You feel it close but nothing's there
Nowhere and everywhere
At the same time
Fallyn tried to radio Heero on Earth that she had found Duo, but the com was defunct in this sector. She gathered Duo up and helped him out of the alleyway, facing them towards the spaceport.
Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
Nowhere and everywhere
At the same time
That night, they were on a shuttle headed back to Earth.
