I met her in Seminary. She kept telling me I didn't belong there; that I was a free spirit. I didn't realize how correct she was.

"Hon, you look stifled."
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, don' gimme that, Maxwell. You're free, your spirit. But here, you're squelched; stifled. You aren't allowed to breathe. You need to get out of here, Duo."
"But my -"
"Promise, I know. Sister and Father aren't going to think any less of you if you don't go through with it. Trust me on this, they'll be happier for you if you follow your heart and spirit than if you force yourself into a life that doesn't make you happy."
"But M-"
"No buts, Duo. Get out, run away, while you still can."

She disappeared that night. No one could find a trace of her, though she had touched all our lives. It was almost as if she hadn't existed, though all of us in the class knew the truth. She had existed; and she had guided many of us.
There were a number of drop outs after her disappearance. Those that stayed studied even harder, knowing this was the right way for them. I hesitated in my decision, throwing myself into the lectures, trying to push her words away. But all too soon, I realized how correct she was. She had seen right through me, and it frightened me.
It wasn't until she returned for me that I realized what she was.

"Why are you still here, Duo Maxwell?"
"I made a promise."
"And I told you that Sister Helen and Father Maxwell would be happier if you followed your heart, not ignored it."
"But if I break that promise, isn't that a lie?"
"No, Duo. Trying to keep that promise will be, though. You're not happy. Sister and Father want you to be happy and to do that, you have to set yourself free."
"What?"
"Don't look so surprised. Leave here. Oh, that. No, you silly young man, I'm not talking about suicide. I mean leave here with me. Run away. Follow your heart, not your head."

I did, too. I just up and left. I didn't have much in the way of belongings, so it wasn't all that difficult to just up and disappear. I wonder if they worried about me the way they worried about her.
The angel.
Marelle.
Gabriel working through an avatar of sorts. To guide this lost lamb back to where he should be.
That is how I ended up back with my own angels. Heero and Fallyn. I love them both so much.
As for Marelle-angel, I don't know what happened to her. After we got away from the grounds of the Seminary, she led me to the nearby town so I could call my angels. Then she disappeared. I often wonder about her.
